The Superfecta Selector

Cash in on the 10-cent Superfecta!

The Superfecta is a wager that requires you to pick the exact order in which horses will finish first, second, third and fourth. Is this difficult? Just think about it. It's hard enough to just pick the winner with any consistency. Now compound that by needing to pick the "best of the rest," then the "best of the rest of the rest," etc.

In a ten horse field, there are 10 possible horses who could come in first. Then there are 9 others who could come in second, 8 others who could come in third and 7 others who could come in fourth. The number of possible finishes is 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 = 5,040. That's more than five thousand different possible finishes!

The only real chance you have of winning a superfecta wager, is to play a variety of different sets of four horses. For years, the superfecta was a $1 minimum wager. So, if you wanted to cover just 10 percent of the possible outcomes from a field of 10 horses, at $1 each, you would need to wager more than $500, and you would still be missing 90% of the possible outcomes! As a result, the $1 superfecta was a wager best suited to those with "deep pockets" or teams of players who pool their money in order to cover many possible outcomes and share the winnings.

The 10 cent superfecta wager was a real game-changer. For the cost of a $2 across the board wager, you could invest in 60 different superfecta wagers. You could also cover 10 percent of all possible finishes from a 10 horse field for only $50.40! And the potential payoffs are magnificent. There was a $2 Superfecta payoff at the Fair Grounds in 2010 that paid over $368,000!

The purpose of this program is to help you design wagers to beat the Superfecta. It does this in two ways. First of all, it will scan an entire race card and, using its own rating system, it will list the six horses in each race which have the highest scores. In our testing, these six horses included the four horses that completed the Superfecta about 41 percent of the time. It can't give you an "automatic" bet, or even the correct order, but certainly points you in the right direction. Here's a sample:

Incidentally, the four horses that made up the Superfecta were among the 6 listed in races 1, 3, 6, and 7, whose $2 pay offs totalled more than $4,500!

The second wagering function is a listing of possible Superfecta Part-Wheels. A Part-Wheel is a wager in which you select 1 or a small number of Key Horses in which you have high confidence, and combine them with a limited number of other horses you think might come in among the top four. The program can design Part-Wheels covering up to 8 horses using up to 3 Key Horses, all based on the horses YOU have selected. It let's you print these out in the same format with which you would place the Part-Wheel wager, as shown here:

The first set of Part-Wheels is designed for situations in which you are confident that one of your Key Horses will WIN the race. As you can see, the first position in each of the wagers consists only of your Key Horses. If one of them doesn't win, you lose. The number of horses in each of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions vary. Obviously, the more horses in each position, the more the bet costs. Each line starts off with the cost of a $1 wager for each Part-Wheel, so you can select those that fit your budget and give you the coverage you want. You need only double the amount for a $2 wager, or divide by 10 for a 10 cent wager.

The second set of Part-Wheels is designed for situations in which you are confident that ALL your Key Horses will finish among the top four, but may not actually Win the race. So, the set of 4 to 6 wagers covers your Key Horses in all four positions. As long as they all come in the top four, in any order, you have a winning ticket among the 4 to 6 you have placed.

The results of both of these functions are placed in files that you can read and/or print using the Microsoft NotePad program that comes with Windows Operating Systems.

If you are excited about having the ability to easily cover a number of horses in a 10-cent Superfecta, this utility program is a natural. Why Wait? Think about that $368,000 payoff last year! And, it's yours for only $89.95!
